Themes

 

The Fourth International Conference on Situating Strategy Use: Strategic Learning in an Uncertain World will be held in Wellington, New Zealand on 23 - 24 November 2022. This interdisciplinary conference aims to stimulate ongoing research and explore less frequently investigated issues concerning learning strategies by inviting an international community of scholars to participate.

The scope of the conference includes acquisition and use of learning strategies in formal education settings, both inside and outside the classroom, as well as acquisition and use of learning strategies outside of formal education settings, such as at home, in the community and in the workplace.

​

The conference will highlight three main threads:

  • Learning strategies in an increasingly uncertain world,

  • Learning strategies across the curriculum, and

  • Technology use for strategic learning.

 

In addition, presentations are invited on, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Strategic learning in an uncertain world

  • Learning strategies across the curriculum

  • Theory building in learning strategy research

  • Transformative strategies

  • Strategy instruction and strategy learning 

  • Assessing strategic learning

  • Technology and strategic learning

  • From research to practice: Research applications

  • Researching strategic learning

  • Teacher education for strategic learning

To submit a proposal, please complete two Word documents and email them to abstract.ssu4@gmail.com

Please name this document with the main author’s name: last name_first name

  1. Full name of presenter(s), affiliation(s), and email address(es)

  2. Bio (50 words max for each presenter)

  3. The title of the presentation (a maximum of ten words)

  4. Preference for presentation mode (online or in person). If you are presenting online, please note that all sessions are in New Zealand time.

 

Document 2: Title and abstract (without any identifiable personal information*)

Please name this document with the first three words of the title, for example: promoting_strategies_for

  1. The title of the presentation (a maximum of ten words)

  2. An abstract of the presentation (a maximum of 250 words, excluding any references)

Evaluation of Proposals 
 

All abstracts will be double blind reviewed. Relevance to the themes of the conference, originality and applicability to the audience are key considerations in the acceptance of all submissions. The committee reserves the right to decline any submission without assigning reasons.  All submitters will receive a letter confirming the outcome of their proposal.

Conditions of Submissions 
 

  • Presenters who have been accepted must register for the conference and pay by 17 August 2022. Registration will open on 31 March 2022. 

  • Presenters are required to organise their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
